Application Procedures

Application Requirement

All applications must include the following:

1. A completed application form
2. An audition Tape/CD/DVD (2-3 contrasting pieces/movements of free repertoire about 10-20 minutes in length) to determine your placement and level of proficiency.
3. A letter of recommendation from your teacher if you do not regularly study with a teacher on the BIMFA faculty.
4. Non-refundable application fee plus a deposit of $300 (*Please see fees & payment schedule below)

All admission materials should be mailed together and postmarked by the deadlines (see below). We encourage all interested candidates to apply as early as possible. Late applications will be considered only if spaces are available. please make check/money order in US dollars payable to BIMFA.

$60 postmark by April 15 for early application

$80 postmark between April 16 and June 10

Program Fees

Student: $1860 (inclusive of deposit, tuition, room and board, festival pass, concerts series admission, practice facilities, all excursions expenses and local transportation, and airport pickup and transfers)
 
Auditor/Parent*: $1060 (inclusive of deposit, room and board, festival pass, concerts series admission, all excursions expenses and local transportation, and airport pickup and transfers)

*Auditor and parent only need to fill out an application form (indicating auditor/parent) with the required deposit.

Payment Schedule

April 15-June 1, 2008 Non-refundable application fee plus deposit of $300*

June 1, 2008 Remaining balance due (or within two week of notification of acceptance)

* Please note the deposit of $300, which is applied toward program fees, will be refunded in full if one is not accepted as a participant. In case one becomes unable to attend, a written request for deposit refund must be received by June 1, 2008.

* Notification of acceptance will be made starting May 1, 2008

        Cancellation & Refund Policy:

• Absolutely no refund for the deposit after June 1, 2008.
• The remaining balance of the paid program fee is fully refundable before July 20, 2008.
• Cancellation made after July 20, 2008 does NOT entitle to a refund.
  

Scholarships

A limited amount of tuition scholarship assistance may be available for highly-qualified students. A written request for financial assistance, along with your application, audition tape, a letter of recommendation, resume and the non-refundable application fee, must all be received together by April 15, 08 before an evaluation can take place, regardless whether you already study with member of BIMFA faculty or not.

Travel Information

Discount Group Airfare & Chinese visa

We have arranged a limited number of group seats on flights from the East & West coasts of the US to Shanghai, China. The arriving date is Aug.14 and return date is August 29, 2008 and students will have first priority for group fare seats, followed by auditors and parents. If you would like us to reserve a seat for you at the discounted fare, you should provide a copy of your passport first page and departure city to us as earlier as possible. Early reservations are strongly advised! 

You are responsible for your own: airfare, passport costs, Chinese visa fees, medical and travel insurance and expenses, etc.
