APPLICATION PROCEDURES

All applications must include the following:

  1. A completed application form
  2. An audition CD/DVD/MP3, consisting of free repertoire, minimum of 2 contrasting pieces/movements and approximately 15-20 minutes in length to determine your placement and level of proficiency
  3. A letter of recommendation from your teacher if you do not regularly study regularly with a member of BIMFA faculty
  4. A non-refundable application fee plus a refundable deposit of $300 (*Please see fees & payment schedule below)

All admission materials should be mailed together and postmarked by the deadlines (see below).With limited space availability, we encourage all interested candidates to apply as early as possible. Notification of acceptance is made on a continuing basis starting in mid-March or within 2-3 weeks after the receipt of your complete application. The application process is ongoing until all spaces are filled. Please make check/money order in U.S. dollars payable to BIMFA.

SCHOLARSHIP

Limited amount of tuition scholarship assistance may be available for highly-qualified applicants. A written request for scholarship & financial assistance, along with your application, audition CD, recommendation letter and a non-refundable application fee must be all received together by March 10th (***see note below) before an evaluation can take place, regardless of whether or not you already study with a member of BIMFA faculty. Please refer and follow carefully the detailed scholarship guidelines and requirement or your scholarship application will NOT be processed.
 
***NOTE: The scholarship application deadline has been extended for qualified applicants. Please send email inquiry indicating your instrument, age, school and qualification to: info@bimfa.org

FEES, PAYMENT SCHEDULE & REFUND POLICY

Nonrefundable Application Fees

  • No application fee for former BIMFA participants and all auditors/parents
  • $30 postmarked on or before February 29
  • $60 postmarked between March 1 to 31
  • $80 postmarked between April 1 to 30
  • $100 postmarked after MAY 1 until all spaces are filled                              

Program Fees

  • Full Session
          $2200 for 2-week program from Aug.13-26, 2012

Full session fees are inclusive of deposit, tuition, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, practice facilities, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers. All Former BIMFA participants are entitled to a $300 reduction of the full session fees.

  • One-Week Session

$1200 for one-week participation during the festival period

One-week session fees are inclusive of deposit, tuition, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, practice facilities, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers for any one-week period of participation during the festival.

  • Auditor/Parent*

$1200 for 2-week program without music instruction

Auditor/Parent Fees are inclusive of deposit, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers.

*Auditor/parent only needs to fill out an application form (indicating auditor or parent) with the required deposit.

Payment Schedule   

  • All application MUST include a non-refundable application fee along with a refundable deposit of $300* before any evaluation can take place.
  • All remaining balance is due on May 15 or within 2 weeks of acceptance notice thereafter.
 
In order to expedite the application process, all applications after June 15th MUST be emailed directly with a completed electronic application form along with supporting materials to: info@bimfa.org  
 
*Please note the deposit of $300, applicable toward the program fees, will be refunded if you are not accepted as a participant. If for any reason you are unable to attend, a written request for deposit refund must be received by June 1 or the deposit will be forfeited with no exception.

Refund Policy

  • Absolutely NO deposit refund after June 1, 2012
  • The remaining balance of paid program fee is fully refundable before July 20, 2012
  • Cancellation made after July 20, 2012 does NOT entitle to a refund of any kind
FLIGHT, VISA & TRAVEL INFORMATION

IMPORTANT NOTE: The 2012 festival arrival/guesthouse check-in date is August 12 and departure/check-out date is August 26.

Direct and connecting flight services to Beijing from the U.S. include Air China, Continental, United, American, Delta, China Eastern Airline, Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Japan Airline, Air Canada and others. Please consult with your local travel agency for more details.
